OCD
About
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) leads to compulsions, which are repetitive actions that arise as a response to relieve tension and anxiety brought on by intrusive thoughts. It often centers on germs or specific rearrangement of objects, with compulsions such as tapping, counting, praying, checking, hand washing, cleaning, and word repetition. Obsessive thoughts often center around fear of contamination, uncertainty, and losing control/harming others, and can be sexual or aggressive, leading to needs for symmetry and order as well as doubts about leaving stoves on or doors unlocked. Patients also often have fears of having a disease of mental illness and are concerned with losing or throwing away something valuable.
