A typical day at Divine House

Sleep is essential to a successful drug and alcohol detox. For that reason, our patients have a specific wake-up time that is followed by a routine that eases them into their day, with breakfast and a meeting with a medical team. Our nursing staff then checks their vital signs, assesses any withdrawal symptoms, and administers prescribe medication as necessary. Then it’s off to breakfast, where patients join both staff and their peers and start morning group. In morning group, they share their emotions, mental well-being, physical feelings, and spiritual state, while staff on hand assesses each individual’s needs. The topics in morning group can vary greatly, from self-esteem and relationships to trust and relapse prevention, all led by a licensed therapist or addiction counselor.

After this, lunch is made by our on-site culinary team. Patients are then invited to join clinical staff and their peers in afternoon group. Here, they discuss things such as mindfulness and managing cravings, as well as skills for life and coping. Then, dinner and an on-site recovery meeting with a sober member of the community. These rotate between SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery, and 12-Step. After the meeting is wrapped up, patients wind down and wrap up their day – whether it be through talking with each other or phoning their family members or journaling. Then, the necessary medications are administered and patients are checking in with medical staff and then asked to join one more group, nightly reflection. The behavioral health team leads this group, directing their clients to reflect on their day and focus on gratitude. Here, they are again asked to share their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual states. They’re also given the chance to make amends to their peers or staff for conflicts that might have arisen through the day.

Duration of stay

The average medical detoxification and residential treatment program lasts about 12-18 days. The medical detoxification lasts about 2-3 days, before patients receive medical clearance to join the residential phase and begin transitioning to the inpatient program, which is about six hours of clinical programming alongside biweekly individual therapy sessions. Finally, patients are provided with a robust, customized aftercare plan. This discharge plan is worked on while the patient is stabilizing in detox, with recommendations from the team on ways that you can progress in your journey of sobriety. At no point do we abandon you in your substance-free life – our care team is there for you every step of the way, helping you cope with withdrawal, helping you navigate life and family, and even helping take you to off-site recovery meetings. We will do whatever it takes to prepare you to be successful in the next step in your treatment.

Aftercare

While you are stabilizing at detox, your team works with you on a discharge plan, making recommendations to help you stay on your path of sobriety. If you live out of state, our discharge planner will help you find a therapist or treatment center and make necessary phone calls and help set up appointments with you.

We don’t leave you to figure out your substance-free life on your own. Your care team supports you beyond withdrawal, helping you with life skills, family concerns, even taking you to off-site recovery meetings. Whatever it takes to get you ready for the next step in successful treatment, we’re there to provide it.

Alumni Program

Recovery doesn’t end when you complete our program – it is a long road, and it is with that in mind that we created our aftercare for alumni. We stay in touch with each and every one of our patients, creating a community centered around recovery and maintenance with a place for every individual. With our aftercare program, patients continue to learn relapse prevention skills, with weekly alumni meetings and social events. All patients who have completed our programs can participate in our alumni program, finding peers to help them do the constant maintenance and upkeep that recovery requires.

What Our Customers Say

I have liked the treatment so far. Level of care is excellent and staff is very hands-on and attentive. I myself can be difficult sometimes and the employees have been very understanding. Consistency is my only complaint but I believe it has been addressed…

Bipolar is a dangerous label to live with in our society… Divine House has put together a treatment center that encompasses all aspect[s] of mind, body, and spirit… in that center, I am thriving.  I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

-R.C.

I have been at Divine House for 21 days. I was referred by Mercy Hospital after I realized after 6 weeks of drinking tequila every day that it wasn’t helping my anxiety and stress issues but I had become an alcoholic.
