Mental Health

Mental illness, by definition, is a mental health disorder that influences an individual’s mood, thinking, and behavior. There are a myriad of mental health disorders, including ones such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, dissociative disorders, behavioral disorders, factitious disorders, stress response disorders, sexual and gender disorders, and somatic symptom disorders. Generally, individuals suffering from mental illness experience mental health concerns on occasion, with these concerns sometimes developing into disorders where the symptoms are ubiquitous, impacting the individual’s ability to function as well as affecting all aspects of their life, such as school, work, and relationships. For this reason, treatment for individuals with mental health disorders often include psychotherapy as well as medication, when appropriate. We also offer transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), an alternative treatment that helps control symptoms in patients who cannot find relief from other treatments like antidepressants or psychotherapy. Treatment sometimes requires residential treatment as well as outpatient treatment, and is long-term, lasting years or even a lifetime, as there is no real cure for mental illness. Divine House focuses on lessening the symptoms and their impact on the patient’s life, as the proper treatment can lead to the patient being symptom-less for a long period of time.
